You keep the peace and bring people together
You understand people and know how to handle tricky situations. You calm tensions, give everyone a voice and help teams work through disagreements with care.
If you got The Diplomat, your work superpower is people. You read the room, sense tension early and know how to bring a conversation back to calm. Your answers leaned toward listening, mediating and making sure every voice is heard, and coworkers probably come to you for advice on handling a difficult email, a tricky meeting or a disagreement with their manager.
Diplomats make workplaces healthier. When people feel understood, they share ideas more freely and work together better. You help create that environment, often quietly, through one-on-one conversations, thoughtful messages and patience. You're skilled at seeing several sides of a situation and finding words that help everyone move forward.
You probably notice when someone is quiet in a meeting and gently invite them to share. When two teammates disagree, you talk to each one privately to understand their view before suggesting a path forward. You might receive thank-you notes and messages from people asking for advice. Office tension that nobody addresses drains you, and you're often the one brave enough to bring it up kindly.
The flip side is that keeping the peace can be tiring, and you might take on other people's conflicts as your own. You may also hold back your own opinions to avoid rocking the boat, or spend a lot of time smoothing over issues others should handle themselves. Your views matter too, and stating them clearly is part of being a great diplomat, not a break from it.
Look for roles where people skills are central: human resources, recruiting, mediation, client relations, coaching or team leadership often suit this style. Set boundaries so you're not everyone's go-to for every conflict. Practice sharing your own opinion early in discussions. And remember that a little tension is sometimes healthy; not every disagreement needs to be fixed right away.
A quick honesty note: this quiz is just for fun and self-reflection, not a professional assessment. Work styles often blend and shift depending on your role and the people around you. Keep what fits and share it with the coworker who always asks you, "How should I word this?"
Ask for their opinion directly and back them up when they speak up. Diplomats feel valued when people recognize the calm and trust they create.
